Since this is a creative blog, I thought I'd better tell you how the rag baskets came about (see previous post). Several years ago I bought a nice bundle of kimono silk linings, intending to make pillows with them. When they arrived, only then did I realize that their "hand" was too soft for that purpose. So I held onto them and they gathered dust and became a little more vintage. Then I got the idea to make rag baskets out of them. That entailed taking a class because, for me, it's easier to be shown, versus figuring it out from photos or written instructions. Additionally, a teacher who's been there and done that will also know the pitfalls and tricks of the trade. That's where Nadine Spier came in. So now ya know!
